I am committing to being a more dedicator blogger this year and writing more about my experiences as a mom, wife, athlete and coach.  Hopefully, I can share some inspiration along the way and do it all well.  If not, well then, perhaps I can share some words of support and empathy as I try to find the balance that works for everyone.  The biggest lesson I have learned as I have aged is that although we want to do everything perfectly and to the very best of standards, it is not always possible.  It is important and healthy to understand that we all do the very best we can in that moment and on that day.  Set big goals for yourself and stretch into new challenges.  Sure, that is very important for self- growth. Also, be compassionate to yourself along the way.  Consistency is the most important factor in long term success in almost everything we do.  Wake up each day and give it the best effort you can for that day.  If you dwell on the shortcomings, you set yourself up to feel as if you have failed.  I have let feelings like that derail me from great possibilities.  Even on the most frustrating and challenging of days, it helps  to focus on the positives and carry those into the next morning. And, seriously, folks.  I have had days when the most positive thing I have accomplished was to pour my cereal into the bowl without spilling it.

Choose a mantra or a positive affirmation for your season this year.  Repeat it to yourself often. Believe it. Live it.  You do not have to share it with anyone else in your life. It is yours. Wake up each morning and tell yourself how special you are and what amazing things you will accomplish for yourself and loved ones.  Perhaps it may be a small gesture on one day and a huge personal accomplishment on another. All the little positive wonders add up to a happier and healthier you.  Build yourself up and build up those around you.

My mantra for this season comes from Martin Luther King, Jr.  It has long been one of my favorite quotes and it resonates personally with me in many ways:
